Details of the Job/Internship
Adlams Solicitors is hiring a Paralegal to join their office in England.
Role and Responsibilities
- Assisting solicitors and head of department in Public Law Care Proceedings Department under supervision.
- Tasks to include administrative and fee-earning tasks as directed and supervised.
- Preparation of briefs of counsel (to be checked and approved by supervising solicitor)
- Preparation of witness statements (to be checked and approved by supervising solicitor)
- Making counsel enquiries.
- Making Expert enquiries.
- Preparation of applications and accompanying documentation (to be monitored and supervised by supervising solicitor).
- Monitoring diary and department “stocktake” and chasing outstanding evidence as required.
- Sending out evidence to clients, counsel and Experts as directed.
- Undertaking legal research as requested by the supervising solicitor.
- Assisting with arranging client appointments with solicitor and/or Experts as required and directed.
- Assisting with telephone enquiries as required and/or directed.
- Such other tasks as may be requested by the supervising solicitor.
Eligibility
- Excellent verbal and written skills.
- Good organizational skills and ability to complete assigned tasks effectively and promptly.
- Ability to work as part of a team and form effective working relationships with others.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Hardworking and can demonstrate initiative.
- The insight to ask questions of lawyers to develop new skills and knowledge within the area of Children's Law.
- A desire to learn and progress.
- Minimum 2:1 qualifying law degree or degree in any subject plus the GDL (or equivalent).
- Experience in family law/legal aid matters is desirable.
