Founded in 2008 and inspired by Teach For America, Teach For India emerged from a collaboration with McKinsey & Company, driven by the belief that every child deserves an excellent education. Today, the movement encompasses 900 Fellows who teach 33,000 children, with over 4,500 Alumni collectively working to impact the lives of 50 million children across India.
Details of the Fellowship/Scholarship
The Teach For India Fellowship is a transformative journey aimed at reimagining education in India. As a Fellow, you’ll develop essential teaching and leadership skills while joining a community of passionate educators and mentors. You’ll become part of a powerful Alumni network of advocates for educational equity, fostering lifelong connections, unique insights, and impactful collaborations that drive meaningful change.
Eligibility
Completed graduation by June/July 2025. Are applying for the first time for 2025 Fellowship cohort, since July 2024. Are a citizen of India or Overseas Citizen of India (OCI).
Application Details
- As a Teach For India Fellow, you will be paid a stipend of INR 25,344 per month. If you are relocating from your home city, you will receive a City Compensatory Allowance (CCA) ranging from INR 6,000 to INR 12,600 depending on your placement city during the Fellowship.
- Reimbursements for work-related expenses (e.g. school supplies on a per-child cost basis).
- Health insurance of up to INR 100,000 and access to free counseling.
- Casual and sick leave, national, regional, and school holidays, and a summer break.
- Access to their career fair after the Fellowship.
- As a Teach For India Fellow, you will be placed in schools in underserved communities in Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Chennai, Delhi, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Mumbai, or Pune. All Fellows will be required to reside in one of these cities during the period of the Fellowship.
