Details of the Organization
Nari Gursahani Law College, named after the legendary Supreme Court advocate and humanist, is popularly known as NGLC. Established in 2004, the College has been imparting quality legal education to the students in Ulhasnagar and its vicinity. The College is affiliated to University of Mumbai; approved by the Bar Council of India and recognized by the Government of Maharashtra.
Details of the Moot Court Competition
Nari Gursahani Law College is organising their National Moot Court Competition under their 14th Dada Nari Gursahani Festival - Vidhi Manthan on 9th and 10th September, 10:30 AM onwards.
Structure of the Competition
The Competition will be structured as per the following format:
- Preliminary Round
- Final Round
Language: The language of the Competition shall be English.
Eligibility
- Only under-graduate students (LLB 3 years/ 5 years) are eligible to participate in the competition.
- Only one team from University/College/Law School is allowed to participate in the competition.
Team Compositions: A team shall comprise three students (two of them shall be designated as Speakers and one Researcher).
Dress Code
- The participants shall adhere to the following dress code when present in any courtroom during the Competition.
- Girls: White Salwar and Kurta or white shirt and black trousers along with black coat and black shoes.
- Boys: White shirt, black trousers along with black coat and black shoes.
Note: The participating teams shall also adhere to the above-mentioned dress code while attending the inaugural and valedictory ceremonies of the Competition.

Registration and Application Details
- Teams must register by 17/08/2023 by filling out the registration form attached to the brochure.
- Participation fees for National Moot Court Competition are Rs. 1000/- (One Thousand only) per team.
- The registration fees will include 2 breakfasts, 1 lunch and 1 snack. An extra person excluding the team will be charged Rs. 500. No refund will be made under any circumstances.
- Each team shall be given a ‘Team Code’ by the Organizers on validation of their registration form.
- The teams shall use their designated ‘Team Code’ for all correspondence with the Organizers.
- The same team code must be used during the submission of the Memorials.
Submission Guidelines
Memorial Submission
The following requirements for memorial must be strictly followed by the participants:
- Each Team must send a soft copy of the memorials, (in .pdf format only), for evaluation by 25/08/2023 with the subject “Memorials for Team no- XYZ”. Request for extension of date-line will not be entertained.
- All memorials submitted for the purposes of the Competition shall strictly adhere to the rules of the Competition. Each Team participating in the Competition must prepare one Memorial on behalf of Appellant and one on behalf of the Respondent. Each team has to submit soft copies of the Memorials from each side within the given timeline.
- Appellant memorials are required to have front Blue cover and Respondent memorials are required to have front Red cover. The memorials shall not contain any form of identification apart from the team code. The team code shall be shared via email after filling and confirming of the registration form. If any such identification mark or symbol etc. which has the effect of identifying the team is found on the memorial, it shall result in instant disqualification of the team. Memorials submitted shall be final and will be used for presentation before judges. No contention as to this shall be entertained later.
- While sending the softcopy of memorials in PDF format, the teams must name the file pertaining to the Respondent as 'R' accompanied by the team code and name the file pertaining to the Petitioner as 'P' accompanied by the team code. For example, Respondent of team 01 should name the PDF file as R01.
- Teams are strictly prohibited from copying the content, case law, report or any research of any other team in any way at any stage of the Competition. If such a complaint is received and found genuine, the defaulting team shall be disqualified immediately.
Guidelines for Formatting
Memorial Structure:
- The memorial must have the following pages only:
- Cover Page – The cover page shall contain the case title, year of the competition, name of the Court and team Code in top right corner.
- Table of Contents
- List of Abbreviations
- Index of Authorities
- Statement of Jurisdiction
- Statement of Facts
- Issues Raised
- Summary of Arguments
- Pleadings/Arguments Advanced
- Prayer Team Code: The team code must be ascribed to the top right corner of the cover page.
Content Specifications
The following content specifications must be strictly adhered to:
- Font and Size (General) - Times New Roman, 12 pts
- Line Spacing (General) - 1.5 lines
- Font and Size (Footnotes) - Times New Roman, 10 pts
- Line Spacing (Footnotes) - Single line
- Page Margins - 1 inch on all sides
- The Hard Copies of the Memorial shall be printed on only one side.
- The citation should be in compliance with the 20th edition of Bluebook.
Evaluation Criteria for Memorials
- Evidence of Original Thought: 10 Marks
- Knowledge of Law and Facts: 10 Marks
- Proper and Articulate Analysis: 10 Marks
- Correct format and Citation: 10 Marks
- Extent and Use of Research: 10 Marks
- Total: 50 Marks
Awards
- Winner of the Final Round will be awarded the trophy and a cash prize of Rs. 6000/-
- Runners-up of the Final Round will be awarded the trophy and a cash prize of Rs. 3000/-
- Team with the highest memorial score will be awarded the ‘Best researcher’ and a cash prize of Rs. 1500/-
- ‘Best Mooter’ will be awarded a cash prize of Rs. 1500/-
- All other participants will receive a Certificate of participation.
