Introduction
What would it take for me to become an Advocate-on-Record? Do I have to go to Delhi and start figuring this out from scratch?
I am a first-generation lawyer and have a practice in the High Court and other forums. I’ve hit a plateau and do not know how to grow my practice further.
I think the Advocate on Record examination requires some superior degree of knowledge and
acumen, and it is not my cup of tea.
I look forward to practising in the Supreme Court someday for my own matters. But I do not know how to do it.
I think I am too young to start preparing for the Advocate on Record examination of the Supreme Court.
I am a law student, and I want certainty that I will clear the Advocate on Record examination in my first attempt. I have heard that it is the most difficult exam for a lawyer.
I have just started my practice, and I want to get the tag of Advocate on Record and fast track the time by building a supporting practice before the Supreme Court for matters arising in my state.
I practice in another city. I do not think I am eligible for the Advocate on Record Examination. It is only for lawyers who practice in Delhi.
I want to step up and build my credibility as a top lawyer in my city and be able to argue state matters before the Supreme Court. I think being an Advocate on Record will help me in standing out in the city.
I want to fast track my career and move to Supreme Court from Trial Court and High Court practice and may come back with higher credibility & an AOR.
I have clients who have matters in the Supreme Court. I want to be able to file cases for them.
I am getting a few matters in the Supreme Court, but how do I grow this work further and retain it partly?
If these questions come to your mind or resonate with you, you are at the right place.
We have solutions to all these questions. This is India’s one and only course where we prepare lawyers for the Advocate on Record Examination.
The best part about our course is that you learn it from those who have not only cleared the examination but aced it before you.
You get an entire team to work with you for your success.
You get to put to use all your strengths only if you know how and where to use them.
Even if you do not regularly appear in the Supreme Court matters, all the practical and relevant aspects are taught to you by experts with detailed anecdotal experience.
We will ensure that you are equipped with enough skills through regular mocks, answer writing and other sessions to appear for the examination.
Those appearing for the Advocate-on-Record examination in June 2021 and 2022 can also apply and benefit from this course.
About the Examination & Examination Pattern
Every year the Advocate on Record for the Supreme Court (AOR) examination is conducted between the month of May and June.
The AOR examination was cancelled in 2020 due to the Covid-19 pandemic and the competition is expected to be tougher this year.
Despite stringent criteria for qualification requiring years of experience, less than one of five students who appear clear the examination.
The examination is conducted by a Board of Examiners, consisting of Senior Advocates under the supervision of a committee of three judges of the Apex Court.
There is no set pattern of the question papers, except the syllabus and hence, students must be really thorough in their preparations.
For a young lawyer practising before the Supreme Court, an Advocate on Record (AOR) is a prestigious tag, that comes along with the privilege to file an appearance and act on behalf of a party before the Supreme Court.
You not only come in the category of less than 3,000 elite lawyers but also get to enjoy significant influence in the functioning of the Supreme Court, through the Supreme Court Advocate on Record Association.
