Learn the way things are happening in Silicon Valley
The way things are happening in Silicon Valley is changing. This has important implications for lawyers in India.
Until 2020, if you wanted to have a good chance of becoming very wealthy quickly, you usually had to go to Silicon Valley.
Startups in Silicon Valley were valued more highly than startups in other places. Also, most of the money invested in startups was in Silicon Valley.
People working in Silicon Valley were paid much more than people doing the same jobs elsewhere in the USA. There was a strong competition for skilled workers.
Getting a job at a fast-growing startup in the early stages could completely change your life.
For Indians, though, going to Silicon Valley was tough. Most couldn't get a visa easily, which made it hard to work there, even for Indian law graduates.
But then something changed in 2020 because of the pandemic.
Silicon Valley started to work remotely.
Investors found out that they could make deals over Zoom and do their research from afar. Strangely, investments made remotely were often more successful than those made in person.
Many business founders and investors moved away from Silicon Valley to places like Florida, Texas, Utah, and Idaho, and they didn't miss out on any opportunities.
They realized that by working remotely, they could access a bigger and better pool of skilled workers, and they could also work more efficiently.
In 2021, working remotely became a big trend for startups.
Even the fastest-growing Silicon Valley startups started working remotely.
New startups were born as remote companies.
Here is a list of some big companies that either fully work remotely, prioritize remote work, or have a mix:

Before the pandemic, only 3.6% of US employees worked from home. Now, it's at least 30%. This is a huge change.
Mark Zuckerberg said that he expects about half of Facebook's 48,000 employees to work remotely in the next 10 years.
Other major companies like Shopify, Upwork, and Coinbase are also moving towards a "digital by default" and "remote-first" way of operating.
A survey by Remote.com asked 1,528 people who work in IT at small and medium-sized businesses in the US and the UK.
People in both places thought that over a third of jobs would be overseas in five years, with US participants estimating 40%.
A surprising 81% of these workers said they'd move if it didn't hurt their job.
Companies that make remote work easy can pick from a much larger pool of talented workers.
And here's the thing: If companies are okay with working with remote US employees, they're likely to be fine with remote employees or freelancers in India who can do the same work at a lower cost.
This is a big advantage for Indians, as we can offer affordable skills that are in high demand globally. This is a secret not many know yet, but it's true in many areas like design, management, marketing, sales, and law.
As a law student or graduate, you can take advantage of the online version of Silicon Valley. You can join the next big tech company while sitting in India, without needing a visa.
And it's not just Silicon Valley – you could work for startups in London, Berlin, Dubai, Shanghai, Tokyo, Kuala Lumpur, or Tel Aviv.
Out of all the legal work you can do, drafting contracts is one of the easiest to do remotely. You don't have to be in a court, file forms, or even be a lawyer in that region to draft contracts for clients. All you need is a grasp of the law and what the parties want, along with great drafting skills.
If you're skeptical, just search for "Remote Contract Specialist Paralegal" and you'll find many remote contract drafting positions
Why did we create this course?
Have you ever wondered how businesses around the world work together? Imagine being the go-to expert who guides them on creating and enforcing contracts that span across borders. That's where our course comes in!
Drafting contracts for a different country involves grasping that country's legal framework and its application to contracts. However, conventional legal education often falls short in linking these concepts to actual contract drafting.
Effective contract drafting is a rare skill.
Conveying the parties' intentions accurately demands careful wording; failure risks misinterpretation.
I vividly recall my debut in drafting a contract for my overseas employer. Tasked with a Power of Attorney, I submitted a verbose 4-page document as is common in India. The General Counsel queried the needless complexity. He retorted with a concise one-pager, proving that brevity sufficed to grant the intended power.
While India clings to verbose contract drafting, global practice leans toward simple, readable terms. This shift is vital when drafting contracts for US clients. It may entail Indian lawyers unlearning their methods.
With remote work becoming the norm, businesses are collaborating across countries more than ever. This means tons of international contracts are being drawn up. And guess what? Our course isn't just about teaching you how to draft these contracts – it's also about showing you how to make sure they actually hold up.
To address this, we've blended US legal principles, contract drafting techniques, and procedural insights. Our training equips professionals to adeptly serve US clients from afar, encompassing the necessary skills for remote engagement.

Can I get remote freelance work after doing this course?
At LawSikho, we have two types of students: those who already possess good legal skills and those who are in the process of learning. We believe in enabling our learners to start earning from their knowledge without delay.
For students with professional-level legal skills, we offer opportunities in contract drafting, data & privacy, international business law, US immigration law, litigation support, and international IP law work.
However, we understand that acquiring professional-level skills takes time. For those who are still developing their legal skills, we provide alternative work opportunities such as writing articles, conducting research, legal transcription, data entry, law firm administration, social media management, and more. Some students even engage in tasks like voice-over work, data compilation, translation, and virtual assistance.
We have established a dedicated team that actively pitches to organizations in the US to help LawSikho students find remote work.
We have set up a US entity to bridge the trust gap between US legal professionals and an organization operating from India.
We focus on getting learners their first three clients, guiding them in crafting impressive proposals. By the time they secure these initial clients, learners become well-adjusted to the process and can independently attract more clients.
They build their CVs and profiles with real work experience and testimonials, opening doors to numerous opportunities.
Getting started is often the hardest part, but at LawSikho, we make the process frictionless. We have witnessed law students earning well over $1000 per month.
Some students have earned $500 in their first month as a side gig. We have students who, after a year, now earn $10,000 per month. While some may start with $300, they make progress by learning new skills, improving their profiles, and pitching for higher-paying work.
Between April 2021 and June 2023, we created over 21000+ opportunities for our learners, resulting in thousands of students securing freelance work. The total value of work secured amounts to over $3,30,000 (Aprox INR 2.7 Crore). Additionally, hundreds of individuals found employment, and secured internships.
Please note that these numbers represent the initial gigs facilitated directly by us or those on which we actively collaborated with the learners. Students have also secured additional work beyond our tracking.
