Details of the Job/Internship
Mahila Housing Trust (MHT) is hiring an Advocacy Officer (Consultant) with at least 5 years of experience to work from its head office, Ranchi office, or home-based in India with regular travel.
Role and Responsibilities
- Review and understand the existing policy engagement approach at MHT on urban development issues.
- Develop and implement research, policy, and partnership development agendas aligned with strategic and operational plans.
- Conduct research and oversee research activities to support policy and government engagement work.
- Develop relationships with governments, civil society, NGOs, private sector entities, think tanks, and media groups.
- Prepare policy papers, briefs, and position papers to support senior management in external representation.
- Consolidate research findings for evidence-based policy-making and disseminate learnings with internal teams.
- Identify opportunities for policy interventions and collaborations with state departments and central ministries.
- Coordinate with the communication in-charge for social media and policy advocacy inputs, and engage in regular policy dialogues.
Eligibility
- Must hold a Master’s degree in Public Policy, Economics, Development Studies, or a related field.
- Must have a good understanding of the urban development policy space in India, including housing, energy, climate change, and water and sanitation.
- Must have at least 5 years of relevant work experience in social research, public policy, or a related field.
- Must possess strong networking skills and the ability to engage with diverse stakeholders, including government officials and departments.
- Must have strong written and oral communication skills with demonstrated research and reporting experience leading to policy or system change.
