Details of the Job/Internship
LawCite Advocates is hiring an Advocate (Shipping & Commercial Laws) for a contractual engagement with one of its clients in the Shipping and Maritime industry. The position is full-time and based at the client’s office in Andheri, Mumbai.
Role and Responsibilities
- Draft and respond to statutory notices.
- Prepare case briefs and support litigation and arbitration.
- Manage shipping disputes including charterparties, demurrage, detention, cargo claims, and documentation errors.
- Handle end-to-end shipping documentation such as bills of lading, manifests, delivery orders, and port clearances.
- Coordinate with cross-functional client teams and Senior Advocates.
- Assist in representations before relevant courts and authorities.
- Travel outside Mumbai as required, expenses reimbursed by the client.
Eligibility
- Enrolled with the Bar Council.
- 2–3 years of experience in active legal practice or in-house legal work in logistics or shipping companies.
- Mandatory exposure to Shipping and Maritime Law.
- Prior appearances before Customs, DRI, CESTAT, High Courts, Supreme Court, NCLT, and other authorities.
