Details of the Job/Internship

Lit.law is inviting an Applied Legal Researcher Intern to join their office in Gurugram.

Duration: 3–6 months, full-time, on-site preferred (flexible hours in case of exams)

Role and Responsibilities

As an Applied Legal Research Intern, you’ll work at the intersection of traditional legal research and modern AI systems. From curating and annotating legal data to evaluating how well our models understand the law, you’ll be contributing directly to the datasets and benchmarks that shape real products. You'll also get a rare window into how a legal tech startup functions across research, product, and strategy making this an ideal opportunity for law students curious about legal innovation, data-driven systems, and startups.

Legal Corpus Building

Help source and catalogue judgments, statutes, and regulations

Annotation & QA

Tag legal documents with issues, holdings, citations; review peer work for consistency.

Benchmark Design

Draft legal scenarios and answer keys to evaluate model performance in contracts, compliance, and litigation.

Model Testing

Run prompt-based evaluations, identify inaccuracies, and propose refinements.

Insights & Research Notes

Co-author internal briefs or dashboards on trends, outliers, and evolving jurisprudence.

Privacy & Ethics Checks

Ensure compliance with DPDP norms and redact sensitive information from legal corpora.

Salary/Stipend

Competitive monthly stipend of upto 20,000 INR with Pre-Placement Offer's track for top performers.
