Bandhan Bank is hiring a Senior Litigation Manager to oversee and manage litigation matters across multiple jurisdictions in India.
Role and Responsibilities
- Oversee the intake, assessment, and categorization of legal cases across India based on priority, risk, and jurisdiction.
- Maintain a Bank-specific docket of ongoing cases and track milestones, deadlines, and jurisdictional nuances.
- Coordinate court dates and litigation timelines to avoid scheduling conflicts.
- Ensure accurate, organized, and accessible case documentation.
- Conduct jurisdiction-specific legal research on precedents, regulations, and case law.
- Review past cases and perform cross-Bank analyses to ensure a consistent legal approach.
- Assess Bank-specific legal risks considering regulatory factors and litigation trends.
- Monitor changes in laws and regulations and evaluate their impact on cases.
- Develop litigation and pre-litigation strategies aligned with the Bank’s business needs.
- Conduct cost-benefit analyses for pursuing or settling cases.
- Coordinate settlements and alternative dispute resolution mechanisms.
- Prepare contingency plans and recommend follow-up actions.
- Select, manage, and evaluate external counsel and ensure budget compliance.
- Manage pre-trial preparation, discovery processes, pleadings, and motions.
- Coordinate and prepare witnesses and give evidence in court on behalf of the Bank.
- Ensure timely filing and representation in court proceedings.
- Conduct training sessions related to litigation risks.
- Provide strategic advisory to prevent potential litigation and support business decision-making.
- Perform any other responsibilities as assigned from time to time.
Eligibility
- Experience in managing litigation and disputes including contractual, consumer, vendor, customer, labour, and employment matters.
- Strong knowledge of debt recovery laws including SARFAESI, DRT, IBC, and criminal laws.
- Prior experience in a Bank or NBFC is preferred.
- Strong legal acumen with high attention to detail.
- Excellent advocacy, negotiation, drafting, and analytical skills.
- Strong commercial understanding and time sensitivity.
- Ability to work collaboratively and learn continuously.
- Excellent written and spoken communication skills.
- Proficiency in MS Office, PowerPoint, and online legal research platforms such as Manupatra and SCC Online.
- Strong strategic thinking and ability to align legal strategies with business goals.
