Details of the Job/Internship
HSBC is hiring an Assistant Legal Counsel – Global Trade Solutions with a minimum of 7 years of experience to join their legal team in Bengaluru.
Role and Responsibilities
- Assist the Senior Legal Counsel – GTS in providing legal support to the GTS business.
- Draft and review guarantee/standby letter of credit issuances, loan, and receivables finance agreements.
- Ensure legal documents adhere to GTS policies and procedures.
- Escalate matters to senior legal counsel when necessary.
- Provide concise, value-added legal advice focused on solutions.
- Support complex and bespoke GTS transactions as needed.
- Manage legal risk and ensure timely transaction execution.
- Work independently or collaboratively, depending on the task.
Eligibility
- Qualified lawyer (preferably from a common law jurisdiction).
- Minimum 7 years of post-qualification experience in banking and finance.
- Experience in trade finance, guarantees, export/import financing preferred.
- Strong drafting, negotiation, and legal advisory skills.
- Good communication, analytical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
- Understanding of domestic banking law and regulations.
