Details of the Job/Internship
Apotex Inc. is hiring an Assistant Manager - Legal with experience of 5–6 years to join their office in Mumbai. The role involves providing comprehensive legal support across a wide range of matters, including contracts, regulatory issues, and other legal support to the business, under the direction of in-house lawyers, specifically the Head of Legal, India, and within the mandate of the Legal Affairs department. The position requires supporting business functions of the Apotex Group globally and contributing to effective legal risk management.
Role and Responsibilities
- Provide legal support within the mandate of the Legal Affairs department for all business functions and activities of the Apotex Group, as directed by in-house lawyers.
- Draft, review, and negotiate commercial contracts, including confidentiality, quality, pharmacovigilance, procurement, service, and sales agreements.
- Provide legal services related to Indian business operations, including HR, finance, litigation, quality, sales and procurement, and compliance matters.
- Provide legal support on regulatory matters, R&D, and clinical trials, including reviewing and preparing responses to Access to Information Requests, Public Release of Clinical Information, and other Canadian regulatory requirements such as advertising and lobbying.
- Identify potential legal risks and propose practical mitigation solutions.
- Assist in managing litigation, arbitration, and pre-litigation matters with external counsel.
- Support global corporate programs, policies, procedures, and systems, including implementation, to enhance legal support and risk mitigation.
- Foster open and transparent communication to build trust-based relationships and support a culture aligned with the organisation’s core values.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
Eligibility
- Mandatory LL.B. degree or equivalent.
- 5–6 years of experience as in-house legal counsel in an international company environment and/or in private practice at a law firm.
- Strong analytical skills and business acumen.
- Understanding and legal training in corporate and commercial law, with experience in a regulated sector.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build collaborative business relationships and work with cross-functional teams.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to evaluate alternatives thoroughly, innovate problem resolution, and adopt a proactive approach.
- Ability to think and act independently.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Ability to manage and adapt to changing priorities.
- Ability to quickly grasp legal and business issues and provide clear, practical legal advice.
