Details of the Job/Internship
Virtuous Retail is hiring for the position of Assistant Manager - Legal for their Gurugram office.
Role and Responsibilities
This role will support the business teams and legal advisors on various activities related to active litigations as well as supporting internal teams in also evaluating amicable settlements to such litigations.
- Litigation Support
- Initiate litigation by following due process of law, against the defaulting party after apprising the management of the commercial & legal risk involved;
- Review progress of outstanding litigations and keep oversight on each and every court matter to ensure the interests of the company from each litigation remain protected;
- Liaise with external legal advisors in framing appropriate responses, notices and other documentations related to litigations;
- Attending all briefing sessions with senior counsels to ensure all counsels have been briefed properly;
- Keep abreast of legislative changes that may affect the company and its affiliates;
- Perform pre-litigation work to minimize risks and maximize legal rights;
- Prepare weekly reports on status of the pending works;
- Ensure compliance to applicable laws;
- Maintain a detailed tracker for each and every litigation matter.
- Stakeholder Management
- Supporting the business team to deal with day to day legal issues at the stores and resolve problems with minimum brand and risk exposure;
- Maintaining sustained contact with senior legal professionals & Law Firms for advice on local compliances, initiating legal action and documentation matters;
- Maintain effective relationship with government and other agencies for necessary statutory compliance.
Eligibility
Qualifications/Experience Required:
- Graduate/Post Graduate in law.
- 3 years of experience in a corporate law firm or in the in-house legal team of a company with knowledge of property laws.
- Prior experience in handling litigation in the commercial real estate sector
- Key Soft Skill Sets: strong communication skills and proficiency in regional language.
- Key Technical Skill Sets: In-depth understanding of drafting and negotiating the agreements.
- Understanding Required on MS Office.
- Attitude Brief: strong work ethic; team player; high degree of professionalism.
