Details of the Job/Internship

The office of the Controller General of Patents, Designs, Trademarks, GI and Copyright, Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade, Ministry of Commerce & Industry, New Delhi, invites applications for the position of Assistant Registrar of Trade Marks, Geographical Indications & Copyrights.

Role and Responsibilities

• Assistant Registrar of Trade Marks & Geographical Indications functions as a Tribunal under the Act and Rules. He takes hearing of contested matters.
• He adjudicates and issues speaking Order and Decision.
• He also attends Court Case and briefs Central Government Counsel on Trade Mark matters, Service matters, Litigation in CAT, High Court and Law Ministry under supervision of Joint Registrar, Sr. Joint Registrar and Registrar.
• He can be assigned any other work relating to the subject by the Registrar and other Sr. officers as per the exigency of workload.

Eligibility

• Holding analogous posts on a regular basis in the parent cadre or Department; Or
• With five years' service rendered after appointment thereto on a regular basis in posts in Pay Band-3 in the scale of pay of Rs 15,600 – 39,100  with Grade Pay of Rs. 5,400 (pre-revised) Level 10 in the pay matrix as per 7th CPC or equivalent in the parent cadre or Department; and
• Possessing the following educational qualifications and experience;

Essential:

• Degree in Law from a recognsied University;
•  Five years practice at a Bar or five years' experience in the State Judicial Service or in the Legal Department of a State Government or of the Central Government or in the processing of applications for registration filed under the Trade Marks Act or Geographical Indications Act or in teaching law in a recognised University. OR
• Master's Degree in Law of a recognized University with three years’ experience in teaching law or in conducting research in law in a recognised University or Research Institution.

Salary/Stipend

Pay Band PB-3 (Rs. 15,600 – 39,100) with Grade Pay of Rs. 6,600 (pre-revised) Level 11 in the pay matrix as per 7th CPC.
