Details of the Job/Internship
Mashreq is hiring for the position of Assistant Vice President Compliance with 15-18 years of experience to join their office in Mumbai.
Role and Responsibilities
- Regulatory Compliance & Governance
- Ensure adherence to all RBI regulations and internal Group policies.
- Independently manage data/information requests from RBI, ensuring timely and accurate submissions.
- Lead and coordinate responses during regulatory inspections (on-site and off-site) and manage interactions with regulators.
- Keep the Country Management and Head Office informed of any significant compliance issues or risks.
- Compliance Risk Management
- Conduct the annual Compliance Risk Assessment (CRA) across business domains to evaluate residual compliance risks.
- Coordinate and conduct the Financial Crime Risk Assessment (FCRA) in line with Group Policy.
- Maintain country-specific addendums to Group policies and ensure alignment with local regulations.
- Manage and oversee remediation plans for identified compliance risks.
- AML / Sanctions Oversight
- Supervise AML transaction monitoring and reporting to FIU-IND.
- Perform reviews and enhanced due diligence on suspicious transactions.
- Review alerts related to customer and transaction sanctions screening; ensure timely escalation and appropriate action on hits.
- Periodically review AML threshold settings and system mapping to ensure relevancy and regulatory alignment.
- Monitoring & Reporting
- Conduct Compliance Monitoring Reviews (CMRs) quarterly, issue findings to stakeholders, and ensure remediation.
- Provide timely and accurate compliance reports to the Head Office (IBG Compliance) and other internal stakeholders.
- Ensure accurate and timely submission of all compliance-related regulatory returns to RBI.
- Liaise with Internal Audit and other assurance functions to align on compliance assurance reviews.
- Training & Stakeholder Engagement
- Deliver ongoing compliance, AML, KYC, and sanctions training for business and operational teams.
- Build a compliance-conscious environment by advising and collaborating with business functions on regulatory expectations and implementation.
- Lead or support automation and digital transformation projects within the compliance function.
Eligibility
- 15–18 years of experience in banking compliance, preferably with a strong focus on AML/Sanctions and regulatory compliance in foreign bank branches in India.
- Graduate or postgraduate degree in Law, Economics, Business, or Commerce.
- In-depth knowledge of RBI regulations, AML guidelines, and banking compliance frameworks.
- Proven experience in managing regulatory inspections, policy development, and transaction monitoring.
- Strong analytical, strategic thinking, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage cross-functional collaboration and lead compliance-related automation initiatives.
