Details of the Job/Internship

Asian Paints is hiring for the position of Assitant Manager Legal with 8 years of experience to join their office in Mumbai. 

Role and Responsibilities

1. Litigation Management

• Draft and file legal documents including written statements, evidence, and arguments in consumer and commercial cases.
• Manage litigation under Section 138 of the Negotiable Instruments Act and summary suits for recovery before various courts.
• Oversee consumer complaint proceedings and ensure timely responses and tracking.
• Coordinate with external legal counsel for case filings and maintain regular follow-up.
• Provide litigation MIS reports and maintain up-to-date records.
• Support training programs for consumer-centricity teams and assist with case-related communications.

2. Legal Advisory

• Offer legal guidance to business teams on operational and strategic matters.
• Draft, review, and vet contracts and legal documents as required.
• Advise on handling specific legal issues with a pragmatic, business-friendly approach.

3. Legal Support Operations

• Provide legal assistance to Distribution, Supply Chain, Logistics, and Manufacturing functions.
• Handle recovery matters including drafting and issuing legal notices for outstanding dues.
• Respond to consumer complaints, draft replies, and support consumer dispute resolution processes.
• Conduct market visits for dealer interactions and to facilitate legal proceedings (e.g., service of summons).
• Undertake legal research and prepare research notes on relevant laws and case precedents.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders to resolve issues via legal portals or platforms.
• Maintain and circulate regular updates on litigation and recovery case status.

Eligibility

Education:

• LL.B. from a recognized institution (GLC Mumbai, Symbiosis Pune, ILS Pune, NLUs preferred).

Experience:

• Essential: Minimum 8 years of relevant legal experience.
• Preferred: Experience with a reputed law firm and/or in-house legal department of a corporate entity.
