Details of the Job/Internship

WRI India is hiring an Associate - Legal with experience of 2–3 years to join their office in Mumbai.

Role and Responsibilities

• Conduct independent first-level reviews of basic legal documents, including MoUs, NDAs, and contracts.
• Align grant agreements with internal activities to ensure compliance with funder requirements.
• Handle multi-level negotiations with internal and external stakeholders to mitigate organizational risk.
• Maintain accurate internal trackers for all active Grants, MoUs, and NDAs.
• Provide legal research support by gathering relevant statutes, regulations, and case law for ongoing projects.
• Summarize research findings into concise reports or memos for internal use.
• Address legal inquiries from internal stakeholders and clarify requirements as needed.
• Assist with ad hoc legal tasks, including drafting documents and preparing presentations.

Eligibility

• Qualified LLB or a Master’s degree in Law.
• 2–3 years of experience within a law firm or corporate legal department.
• Primary emphasis on laws applying to non-profits is required.
• Seasoned communication and negotiation skills with the ability to influence a matrix organization.
• Proficiency in legal research, word processing, and internet-based statutory analysis.
• Understanding of and commitment to environmental and sustainability strategic areas.
• High standards of integrity, ethics, and professional judgment.

Salary/Stipend

INR 950,000 to 1,250,000
