American Express is hiring for the position of Associate - AML and Compliance with 4 years of experience to join their office in Gurugram.
Role and Responsibilities
- Execute compliance operations in support of Market Compliance Officers across international markets, with a strong focus on AML processes.
- Analyze financial statements and customer documents to detect and mitigate suspicious activity or patterns.
- Assess and report potential financial crimes, including fraud and money laundering, through comprehensive investigation and risk evaluation.
- Conduct Politically Exposed Person (PEP) reviews by validating potential matches at onboarding and performing Enhanced Due Diligence (EDD) periodically for confirmed PEPs.
- Perform Sanctions Screening (Front-End & Back-End) to identify and resolve potential matches both during onboarding and throughout the customer lifecycle.
- Lead stakeholder engagement by facilitating alignment calls with senior leadership across business units and securing consensus on compliance actions.
Eligibility
- Minimum of 4 years of relevant experience, preferably with a combination of Big Four audit background and/or compliance roles in banks or financial institutions (e.g., internal audit, SOX testing, PRSA testing).
- Educational background in MBA, Law, Chartered Accountancy, CPA, ACAMS, or related certifications in audit/compliance.
- Proven ability to independently understand regulations, design test scripts, execute fieldwork, and communicate findings effectively.
- Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills with the ability to break down complex issues into actionable insights.
- Self-driven, organized, solution-oriented, and resilient under pressure.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills in English.
- Proficiency in a foreign language (e.g., Japanese, German, Spanish) is an added advantage.
