Details of the Job/Internship

Swenson & Shelley is hiring an Associate Attorney to assist in providing legal counsel, working closely with senior partners and associates. The role involves legal research, drafting documents and maintaining client files.

Role and Responsibilities

• Conducting legal research and preparing for hearings and proceedings.
• Providing legal counsel with support from senior associate attorneys.
• Maintaining organised client files.
• Reviewing client issues and analysing available options.
• Resolving cases efficiently through effective communication.
• Creating legal documents, including correspondence, briefs, motions, pleadings, contracts, affidavits and settlement agreements.
• Investigating and gathering evidence related to personal injury cases.
• Drafting pleadings, motions and discovery requests.
• Negotiating with insurance companies and opposing counsel.
• Representing clients in hearings, mediations and arbitrations.
• Attending depositions and conducting witness interviews.
• Providing clients with regular case status updates.
• Collaborating with attorneys and legal professionals to develop legal strategies.
• Maintaining complete case files and documentation.

Eligibility

• Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school.
• Admission to the Utah State Bar or Arizona State Bar.
• Experience practicing personal injury law.
• Strong negotiation and communication skills.
• Excellent legal research and writing skills.
• Ability to manage a caseload and prioritise tasks effectively.
• Proven track record of successful settlements and verdicts.
• Experience with case management software and technology.
• Solution-focused, kind, compassionate, service-oriented, respectful, collaborative, authentic, consistent, responsible and trustworthy.
• Spanish is helpful but not necessary.

Salary/Stipend

Compensation details will be finalized during the interview process with the selected candidate.
