IndiaLaw LLP is seeking a highly motivated and skilled 1 to 3-year Associate to join their Banking and Finance team in Mumbai. The ideal candidate should possess a solid foundation in banking and finance law, with a demonstrated proficiency in various aspects of transactional drafting, advisory services, governance, and compliance.
As a Law Associate, you will be an integral part of their team, contributing to high-stakes projects and offering strategic legal counsel to a diverse range of clients, including banks, NBFCs (Non-Banking Financial Companies), promoters, borrowers and multilateral agencies.
Role and Responsibilities
- Transactional Drafting: Showcase your expertise by effectively drafting and reviewing a variety of essential documents, such as loan agreements, mortgages, hypothecations, pledges, and other financial instruments. Your ability to ensure precision, compliance, and clarity in these documents will be crucial.
- Banking and Finance Advisory: Provide strategic advisory services to clients, including banks, NBFCs, and multilateral agencies, on matters related to banking and finance. Your insights will contribute to informed decision-making and risk mitigation strategies.
- Governance and Compliance: Demonstrate a deep understanding of banking and finance regulations and standards. Assist clients in navigating complex governance and compliance requirements to ensure their operations remain in full legal compliance.
- Structured Trade Finance: Offer counsel and assistance to banks and NBFCs in matters pertaining to structured trade finance. Your ability to comprehend intricate trade finance arrangements will be essential in providing effective guidance.
- Infrastructure Investment Trusts: Provide support in financing rounds related to infrastructure investment trusts. Collaborate with clients in devising financing strategies that align with their investment objectives.
- Deal Sheet Inclusions: Join a team that has a remarkable deal sheet encompassing high-value debt restructurings, mezzanine financing, project finance, and complex securitization. Contribute to the success of these transactions through your legal acumen and attention to detail.
- Client Diversity: Assist a diverse clientele that includes banks, NBFCs, and prominent multilateral agencies such as the ADB (Asian Development Bank) and IFC (International Finance Corporation). Adapt your legal advice to suit the unique needs and objectives of each client.
Eligibility
- Admitted to the Bar and authorized to practice law.
- 1-3 years of post-qualification professional experience in banking and finance law, preferably with a law firm.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong analytical abilities and attention to detail.
- Ability to work on urgent timelines in a team environment.
- Familiarity with relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards.
- Proven ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
