Details of the Job/Internship

Bhuta Shah & Co LLP is hiring an Associate – Direct Tax Litigation to join their Mumbai office. The role involves managing tax disputes, representing clients before tax authorities and appellate forums, and advising on corporate tax, international taxation, and transfer pricing matters.

Role and Responsibilities

• Represent clients before tax authorities, CIT(A), ITAT, and High Courts in direct tax disputes.
• Draft appeals, written submissions, rejoinders, and other litigation documents.
• Coordinate with senior counsels and attend hearings.
• Analyze tax assessments, audit notices, and draft strategic responses.
• Advise clients on tax positions and potential litigation exposure.
• Evaluate precedents, legal provisions, and regulatory updates.
• Maintain relationships with clients, internal stakeholders, and tax authorities.
• Provide litigation updates and strategic recommendations to clients.
• Conduct in-depth legal research on tax laws, case laws, and circulars.
• Prepare research notes and technical memos for internal and client use.
• Ensure timely filing of appeals, replies, and representations.
• Maintain litigation trackers and case files.

Eligibility

• Qualified Chartered Accountant (CA) with experience in Direct Tax Litigation.
• Strong understanding of the Indian Income Tax Act, 1961, and allied laws.
• Proven experience in handling tax assessments and appeals.
• Excellent drafting, communication, and analytical skills.
• Ability to manage multiple litigation cases and deadlines.
• Experience in interacting with tax authorities and senior counsels.

Salary/Stipend
