Details of the Job/Internship

White & Brief is hiring an Associate with 2–3 years of experience in Indirect Tax and Customs (Advisory and Litigation) to join its Mumbai office. The role involves research, drafting, client advisory and handling matters relating to GST, customs and other indirect tax laws.

Role and Responsibilities

• Researching indirect tax and GST issues.
• Advising clients on indirect tax implications and regulatory changes.
• Drafting legal documents including opinions, replies, appeals and petitions.
• Sharing updates on latest tax trends and developments.
• Conducting research for theoretical understanding of relevant laws.
• Staying updated on legal industry trends.
• Ensuring quality and timely delivery of client work.
• Demonstrating ownership and accountability in team objectives.
• Planning work efficiently and adhering to established processes.

Eligibility

• Qualification: Lawyer or Chartered Accountant.
• 2–3 years of experience in indirect tax and customs advisory and litigation.
• Strong research and analytical skills in GST and indirect tax laws.
• Knowledge of case laws, legal frameworks and regulatory updates.
• Excellent command over English with strong drafting abilities.
• Ability to conduct quick research on laws and regulatory developments.
• Expertise in tax restructuring, advisory, appeals, writs and matters under service tax, VAT, excise, foreign trade policy, customs law and GST.
• Skilled in drafting opinions, replies to SCNs, appeals, writ petitions, SLPs and in briefing counsels.
