Details of the Job/Internship

Lakshmikumaran & Sridharan attorneys is hiring an Associate – Indirect Tax – Litigation with experience of 0-2 years to join their office in Ahmedabad.

Role and Responsibilities

• Assist clients in responding to the department during enquiries, investigations, and audits.
• Prepare replies to show cause notices and audit communications.
• Meet tax officers for hearings as required.
• Prepare tax appeals before the Joint Commissioner (Appeals), Tribunal, High Court, and Supreme Court.
• Assist seniors in representation before various judicial forums.
• Conduct comprehensive research on relevant topics.
• Proactively identify and discuss technical issues with clients while being mindful of firm risk issues.
• Handle tax matters including preparation of submissions, replies, appeals, meetings with tax authorities, and representation during appeals along with seniors.
• Execute work across multiple clients and assume near independent responsibility for smaller clients.
• Develop rapport with middle layers of client management.
• Stay updated on firm-wide, competitor activities, and general business trends to bring value to clients.
• Identify new opportunities for existing clients and communicate them to seniors.
• Network internally to understand issues that may impact clients.
• Stay updated with the latest developments in tax and other laws and contribute to the firm’s knowledge management activities.

Eligibility

• Qualified CA/LLB.
• 0-2 years of experience in Indirect Tax such as GST and Customs preferred.
