Details of the Job/Internship

Lakshmikumaran & Sridharan Attorneys is hiring an Associate – Indirect Tax Litigation with 1–3 years of experience to join their office in Prayagraj. The role involves assisting clients in search, investigation, and audits, preparing replies to show cause notices and tax appeals, and supporting seniors before departmental authorities and courts.

Role and Responsibilities

• Identify and discuss technical issues with clients while being mindful of firm risk.
• Handle tax matters including submissions, replies to notices, appeals, appearances before tax authorities, and representations during appeals with seniors.
• Execute work for multiple clients and independently manage smaller clients.
• Build rapport with middle management of client organizations.
• Stay updated on firm-wide activities, competitor practices, and business trends to bring value to clients and managers.
• Identify new opportunities for existing clients and communicate them to seniors.
• Network internally to understand issues affecting clients.
• Mentor and guide associates.
• Stay updated on tax and legal developments and contribute to knowledge management activities of the firm.

Eligibility

• Lawyer with a strong academic background.
• 1–3 years of experience in indirect tax, GST, or customs.
• Experience in assisting clients during searches, investigations, and audits (required).
• Experience in preparing replies to show cause notices (required).
• Experience in appearing before tax officers (required).
• Experience in preparing tax appeals before the Joint Commissioner (Appeals), Tribunal, and courts (required).
• Experience in assisting seniors during hearings before departmental authorities and courts (required).
