Details of the Job/Internship
They are looking for an Associate Lawyer with a minimum of 2-3 years of experience in the legal field, particularly someone with a solid background in drafting, research, and court appearances within the jurisdiction of Delhi High Court and District Courts. The candidate should have significant exposure to original side, writ, and appellate work in both civil and criminal areas. A strong focus on legal writing, research, and a practical understanding of case filing procedures in various courts is essential.
Role and Responsibilities
Legal Drafting:
- Prepare high-quality legal documents, including petitions, replies, rejoinders, written submissions, appeals, affidavits, and other legal correspondence, in a timely and efficient manner.
Court Appearances:
- Attend hearings and assist senior counsels in the High Court of Delhi and District Courts.
- Engage in legal arguments, and cross-examinations, and provide support in live court proceedings.
Research & Legal Analysis:
- Conduct thorough legal research on case laws, statutes, regulations, and legal precedents in both civil and criminal matters.
- Provide detailed analyses of relevant laws to support case strategies and legal arguments.
Case Management & Filing:
- Handle the preparation and filing of cases in the Delhi High Court, District Courts, and other relevant courts.
- Ensure that all procedural formalities for filing and document submissions are strictly adhered to.
Client Interaction:
- Engage with clients and assist senior lawyers in discussing case strategies, providing legal counsel, and explaining legal procedures in a clear, concise, and professional manner.
Writ & Appellate Work:
- Contribute to writ petitions and appellate work, including the preparation of appeals, revisions, and representations for higher courts.
Document & Case Management Systems:
- Maintain accurate records of case files, correspondence, and legal documents.
- Ensure efficient management of case-related documentation and timely submission of legal documents.
Miscellaneous:
- Assist in the general operations of the firm, including administrative duties, managing legal deadlines, and coordinating with other departments as required.
Eligibility
Education:
- Law degree (LL.B.) from a recognized institution. legal qualifications will be considered a strong asset.
- Admission to the bar in the relevant jurisdiction (with the ability to practice law in India).
Experience:
Minimum 2-3 years of legal experience in the following areas:
- Drafting and research (civil and criminal law).
- Court appearances, with experience specifically in Delhi High Court and District Courts.
- Exposure to the original side and writ/appellate work in both civil and criminal law.
- Experience in filing cases and managing case documentation in various courts.
Skills:
- Excellent Drafting Skills: Ability to produce clear, concise, and legally sound drafts for petitions, affidavits, legal opinions, and other court-related documents.
- Advanced Legal Research Skills: Proficiency in legal research techniques, including familiarity with online legal databases (e.g., Manupatra, SCC Online, LexisNexis).
- Court Experience: Practical experience of attending hearings and assisting in court proceedings, particularly in Delhi High Court and District Courts.
- Filing Experience: A clear understanding of the processes and formalities involved in filing legal cases in Delhi High Court, District Courts, and other related courts.
- Technological Proficiency: Strong computer literacy, particularly in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PDF software. Proficiency in using case management software will be considered an added advantage.
- Strong Analytical Skills: Ability to critically analyze legal issues, statutes, and case law, providing practical insights to the legal team.
- Attention to Detail: High attention to detail, particularly in drafting documents and managing legal procedures.
