Through HyperStart, it is also building the legal and compliance tech stack for startups in the US, India, and Singapore. Currently at $19M ARR, the company is on track to reach $100M revenue in 4 years.
Details of the Job/Internship
HyperVerge is hiring a Legal Counsel with 2–4 years of experience to handle end-to-end legal work across client negotiations, compliance, IP, product advisory, and global expansion.
Role and Responsibilities
- Lead client/vendor agreement negotiation calls and structure commercially viable, risk-balanced deals.
- Review contracts including NDAs, MSAs, and vendor agreements; take end-to-end ownership from Month 2 onwards.
- Monitor DPDP, GDPR, CCPA/CPRA, RBI, and sector-specific requirements; draft data-flow maps and remediation plans.
- Update privacy policies, consent language, and retention schedules.
- Contribute to IP protection, internal compliance, and risk management frameworks.
- Embed with product teams to assess legal/privacy risks in new features at design stage.
- Deliver training sessions for Sales, Ops, and Engineering teams; create FAQs and resources.
- Track regulatory developments in AI, biometrics, and data privacy, advising on risks and opportunities.
- Represent HyperVerge at industry forums, panels, or through authored content.
- Develop and maintain internal legal processes, playbooks, and templates.
- Support cross-functional teams with strategic legal inputs during product development and client onboarding.
Eligibility
- LL.B. required; LL.M. or certifications in data privacy/fintech preferred.
- 2–4 years of experience in a law firm or in-house legal team, ideally in TMT, fintech, or general corporate.
- Strong legal drafting and negotiation skills.
- Knowledge of software licensing, technology transfers, and data privacy.
- Excellent communication skills with ability to simplify legal concepts for business teams.
- Self-driven, curious, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.
