Details of the Job/Internship

Swiss Re is hiring an Associate Legal Counsel with 8–12 years of post-qualification experience to join their office in Bengaluru under a hybrid work model requiring at least three days in the office per week.

Role and Responsibilities

• Provide strategic legal guidance relating to Swiss Re’s business activities across India.
• Handle governance matters and support the Bangalore Legal Head and Company Secretary in corporate governance initiatives.
• Manage corporate legal affairs, including corporate filings and interactions with statutory authorities.
• Address employment matters by providing legal advice and support.
• Draft and review contracts, petitions, and legal notices.
• Support internal investigations and manage litigation in coordination with law firms, auditors, and consultants.
• Monitor regulatory developments and analyze their impact on business operations in India.
• Contribute to regional initiatives as part of the APAC Legal and Compliance team.

Eligibility

• India-qualified lawyer with 8–12 years PQE, preferably registered with the Bar Council.
• Experience in corporate governance, statutory compliance, and employment law matters.
• Proven ability to draft and review contracts, petitions, and legal notices.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English; local language proficiency preferred.
• Experience in managing litigation and coordinating with external stakeholders.
• Experience in the insurance or reinsurance industry will be preferred.
• Prior experience in a multinational corporate environment will be preferred.
• Knowledge of regulatory frameworks affecting financial services in India will be preferred.
• Experience in handling employee litigation and labour law matters will be preferred.
• Ability to multi-task and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong cross-cultural communication skills.
