Details of the Job/Internship

Swiss Re is hiring an Associate Legal Counsel with 10–13 years of experience to join its Asia Division in Mumbai, India. Designated as Assistant Vice President and reporting to the Head Legal P&C & L&H Re Advisory India, the role involves providing legal support to Swiss Re’s business and operations in Mumbai and, from time to time, to its Global Business Solutions Centres in Bangalore and Hyderabad. The scope of work includes general corporate matters, regulatory and compliance matters, reinsurance contracts and claims, reinsurance solutions and transactions, governance matters, and general business advisory support. The role also includes supporting regional initiatives as part of the APAC Legal & Compliance team.

Role and Responsibilities

• Providing legal support relating to Swiss Re’s business activities.
• Monitoring regulatory developments and analysing their impact on business operations in India.
• Advising on regulatory requirements for re/insurance contracts and claims and supporting regulatory compliance.
• Assisting with compliance matters and compliance training in India.
• Handling governance matters.
• Drafting and reviewing various contracts and legal documents.
• Providing legal advice on corporate matters, including corporate filings and interaction with statutory authorities.
• Advising on employee-related matters.
• Supporting regional initiatives as part of the APAC Legal & Compliance team.

Eligibility

• 10–13 years’ PQE; India-qualified lawyer, preferably with Bar Council registration.
• Attention to detail and ability to multi-task.
• Ability to work independently and collaborate across functions, teams, and jurisdictions.
• Excellent written and spoken English.
• Strong communication and cross-cultural skills.
• Prior experience with a re/insurance company and courts in India is an advantage.
