Details of the Job/Internship
Syngene, an innovation-driven contract research, development, and manufacturing organization, is in search of a seasoned Legal Counsel. With a minimum of 5-7 years' experience in intellectual property rights management, including patents and trademarks, as well as contract drafting and negotiation, the ideal candidate will provide legal guidance and support to both clients and internal teams. This position is based in Bengaluru.
Role and Responsibilities
- Manage and/or oversee the company’s intellectual property portfolio, including patents and trademarks.
- Advise and provide legal support to business teams on contract and IP matters, including risk assessment and mitigation strategies.
- Supporting commercial side of the business this resource will be drafting, redlining, and negotiating client contracts covering complex Master Services Agreements, Service Agreements, Statements of Work and Confidentiality Agreements.
- Providing legal advice and guidance on all legal matters relating to operational aspects at Syngene.
- Develop and implement strategies to protect company's intellectual property rights.
- Conduct legal research and analysis on ad-hoc complex legal issues and provide recommendations on legal strategies.
- Collaborating with key stakeholders across the business to ensure that all contracts align with the company's strategic objectives and compliance requirements.
- Developing and maintaining relationships with external legal counsel, law firms, and other stakeholders to ensure the smooth operation of the legal function.
- Draft and develop standard legal templates, policies, playbooks, and procedures.
- Train new joiners in the legal, commercial, and other enabling functions on legal and contractual processes.
- Provide knowledge transfer to the new resources joining the legal team.
- Prepare and update the training material.
- Ability to work without or with minimum supervision.
- Be the first point of contact for respective stakeholders.
Eligibility
- At-least 5-7 years of experience in management of intellectual property rights, including patents and trademarks, contract drafting, redlining, negotiation, copyrights.
- In-depth knowledge of intellectual property laws and regulations.
- Sound knowledge in contract drafting, negotiations, and execution.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Advising and managing key stakeholders on complex legal matters.
- A team player and collaborator.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge of the pharmaceutical industry and relevant laws & regulations will be an added advantage, and
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
