CIP-GBS is a key arm of Novo Nordisk’s global IP organization, working closely with teams in Denmark and the US. Since its inception in 2007, the team has supported a wide range of IP functions, including patent searches and assessments, prosecution, litigation support, business development, trademarks, and patent coordinator services. 

Details of the Job/Internship

Novo Nordisk is hiring for the position of Associate Patent Attorney with 6-12 years of experience to join thei office in Bengaluru. 

Role and Responsibilities

• Handle patent prosecution for India and Rest of the World (RoW) jurisdictions.
• Independently conduct patentability, invalidity, and freedom-to-operate (FTO) searches.
• Draft, file, and prosecute patent applications to ensure comprehensive protection.
• Support litigation and administrative proceedings by defending Novo Nordisk’s patent rights.
• Contribute to life-cycle management (LCM) strategies to manage loss of exclusivity (LoE).
• Provide detailed IP support for in-licensing, acquisition, and R&D initiatives.
• Collaborate with global teams to ensure compliance with international IP regulations and practices.

Eligibility

• Education:
• Postgraduate or Master’s degree in Biotechnology, Biochemistry, Medicinal Chemistry, or a related life sciences field.
• Experience:
• 6–12 years of experience in intellectual property, particularly patents, within the biotech, life sciences, or biopharma sectors.
• Proven ability to independently manage patent prosecution, IP evaluations, and strategic filings.
• In-depth experience with sequence and structure searches using STN, PatBase/Derwent, SciFinder, and similar tools.
• Strong understanding of IP law in India, US, EU, and Japan.
• Prior in-house IP team or top-tier law firm experience is a plus.
• Registered Indian Patent Agent (preferred).
