PLR Chambers is hiring Associates for the Policy & Legislative Drafting Team with experience of 2 to 3+ years to join their office in Mumbai & New Delhi.

Role and Responsibilities
- Engage with and advise Government clients at the Central/State level by providing legal advice and summarizing legal positions.
- Interpret and advise on various laws, showcasing versatility beyond a single practice area.
- Draft provisions for legislation and delegated legislation, conduct research and prepare summary documents for tabling before Parliament.
- Providing inputs on drafts of legislation, delegated legislation, and policies. Reviewing various forms of delegated legislation for the purpose of implementation of statutes.
- Research and draft policy documents and proposals.
- Draft and vet subordinate legislation.
- Advising on any legislative or policy reform for various Acts or proposed legislative or policy framework.
- Legal review of contracts and providing legal advisory on interpretation of statutory frameworks.
- Conduct legal research for litigation matters, draft legal arguments, and participate in stakeholder consultations.
- Concisely explain and summarize laws and legal issues in Government meetings, stakeholder consultations, and conferences.
- Drafting legal inputs in litigation matters. Coordinate with counsel representing the client in Courts, ensuring effective communication and adherence to instructions.
- Prepare case notes, presentations, opinions, and research notes for court cases.
Eligibility
- LLB/LLM degree from a recognized law school.
- At least two years of work experience in a law firm post-LLB/LLM. Preference will be given to candidates with Maritime Law qualifications/experience.
- Ability to work autonomously, guided by counsel/partner instructions.
