Details of the Job/Internship
As the Law Office of Apar Gupta expands, they inviting applications for a legal associate on a rolling basis. The ideal candidate has 1-2 years of work experience for an in-person role at their office in New Delhi.
Role and Responsibilities
- Appear and assist in courts and tribunals across Delhi. This has a large logistical component and leg work. This is not only a desk job and will often require out of office visits within Delhi and coordination with clients, lawyers and court staff.
- Conduct legal research on various issues concerning technology, telecom and media law and related fields. This means going beyond ChatGPT towards peer reviewed articles and legal databases. I expect my colleagues to read all materials (eg. case decisions) in full when necessary than just using condensed summaries.
- Assist in preparing briefs, pleadings, and other legal documents for cases in courts and tribunals. There is a big component of drafting within the job. Here I will offer guidance through outlines, reviews and feedback and expect drafts to be made with care but also with pace.
Eligibility
- Bachelor’s degree in Law (LL.B.) from a recognized university with a preference for candidates with a PQE of 1-2 years.
- Excellent research, writing, and communication skills. You need to be good with managing your time at work as my office requires rigour but not long hours.
- Earnestness, sincerity and drive. Your work needs to be grounded with honesty and the abiliy to take initiative.
