Details of the Job/Internship

DBS Bank is hiring an Associate, Legal Manager with experience of 7–10 years to join their office in Chennai.

Role and Responsibilities

• Manage the lifecycle of legal vendors, including assessment, appointment, and performance-based renewals.
• Oversee mortgage product documentation, ensuring ultimate borrower sets are updated and compliant.
• Conduct hindsight title searches and ownership verifications on a sample basis for each branch.
• Assess clear and marketable titles, SARFAESI applicability, and continuity of property ownership.
• Advise business, product, and credit teams on legal deviations and case-specific remarks from external vendors.
• Coordinate with collection teams to initiate legal proceedings (Sec 138 / SARFAESI / Arbitration) on defaulting customers.
• Track "Next Date of Action" (NDOA) for litigation cases and maintain a centralized summary for monthly reviews.

Eligibility

• Law degree or equivalent professional legal certifications.
• 7 to 10 years of relevant experience in a similar role within a bank or NBFC.
• Strong expertise in vendor management and legal risk mitigation.
• Comprehensive knowledge of SARFAESI, Section 138, and Arbitration laws.
• Proficiency in legal drafting and the ability to interpret complex property titles.
• Willingness to travel across the region as required for operational oversight.
• Demonstrated ability to work in a regular, full-time risk management schedule.
