Details of the Job/Internship
Khaitan & Co. is hiring an Associate with experience of 2 to 3 years to join their office in New Delhi.
Role and Responsibilities
Matter preparation:
- Being conversant with the facts of the client matters, including performing legal research and analysis and sourcing expert opinion.
- Ability to prepare a note for arguments on the matter with relevant judgments and control the flow of information regarding the case.
- Ability to brief the case to the senior counsel/ team senior.
Client Engagement:
- Understanding of matter details and the client requirements, strategically counsel clients and potential clients on legal matters provide regular updates to the clients, adhere timelines, prepare documentation before a client meeting, and coordinate with the team for documentation and client briefing.
- Prepare, review, and negotiate pleadings/drafts and filing with the appropriate fora, discuss the structure/ strategy with team / senior with proper application of legal proposition with an understanding of client’s requirement, identify legal or contractual issues and develop new approaches to resolve complex issues before drafting,
Eligibility
- Qualified LLB or LLM from a premier law school in India / abroad (qualified to work in India).
- 2-3 years of demonstrated experience in civil/commercial litigation with good procedural knowledge of SC/HC, and arbitration experience with a Tier 1 law firm / reputed Chambers.
- Knowing the basics fundamentals of but not limited to CPC, Arbitration Act, Contract Act, Specific Relief Act, Limitation Act, Insolvency Code, Evidence Act, Arbitration and Conciliation Act
- A stickler for timelines of assignments and a multi-tasker able to handle multiple assignments simultaneously.
- Solution-oriented approach with proven ability to close transactions independently with minimal supervision.
- Outstanding communication skills - both written and verbal - with a proven ability to communicate to all "clients" (internal and external).
- Strong interpersonal and client management skills.
- Strong understanding on a wide range of legal subjects, ability to build on this knowledge, spot issues and bring in specialists as needed.
- Drive for technical superiority by staying abreast of developments in Law and be the go-to subject matter expert.
- Good analytical skills and experience of working in diverse areas of law (specific area may be mentioned ).
- Deploys a versatile range of influencing styles and can deal with organizational complexity.
- Excellent team player who can adapt to change quickly and multi-task.
- Hands-on; willingness to roll up his/her sleeves. Operational, execution, and solution-oriented.
