OutLawed is hiring a case manager to join them in Bengaluru office.
Role and Responsibilities
- Legal Strategy & Case Management
- Track Legal Issues: Document and analyse reports from Nyaaya Mitras to identify recurring legal challenges faced by communities.
- Case Strategy & Legal Research: Provide guidance on legal cases, by researching applicable laws and context to inform strategy and potential outcomes.
- Liaison with Stakeholders: Network with government officials, NGOs, and lawyers to facilitate case resolution and support clients.
- Briefing & Assisting Lawyers: Prepare briefs, assist with case details, and appear in court.
- Community Outreach & Stakeholder Management
- Communication & Monitoring: Develop strategies to keep Nyaaya Mitras informed and assess their performance, offering feedback to improve effectiveness.
- Facilitating Community Outreach: Conduct community visits to assess legal needs and promote the Nyaaya Mitra Programme, building trust and awareness.
- Data Collection & Analysis: Collect and analyse data on legal issues and intervention impact to inform future strategies.
- Competencies & Skills:
- Interpersonal and communication skills: Strong ability to connect with diverse groups, including community members, stakeholders, and legal professionals, fostering collaboration and trust.
- Research & Writing Skills: Ability to conduct thorough and effective legal research, and exceptional legal analytical, writing, and organisational abilities.
- Ability to work independently, translating legal issues reported into action plans, and following them through from initiation to completion.
- Proficient in time management, organisation and capacity to handle multiple cases from multiple paralegals.
- Passion for social justice and community engagement.
Eligibility
- Bachelors in Law (5 year or 3 year course).
- Mandatory requirement of knowing how to speak, read, and write Kannada.
- Mandatory litigation experience in criminal law and family law.
- PQE 1-3 years.
