Details of the Job/Internship
Marks and Spencer Reliance India Private Limited is hiring a Chief Manager - Legal with experience of 10+ years to join their office in Gurgaon.
Role and Responsibilities
- Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of property agreements, including lease, leave & license, and Common Area Maintenance (CAM) contracts.
- Conduct and prepare detailed Legal Due Diligence (LDD) reports to highlight potential risks to the management.
- Oversee the registration process, including the verification of stamp duty payments and scheduling.
- Provide general legal advice on marketing materials, terms of use, SOPs, and promotional contests.
- Draft and respond to legal or statutory notices and initiate legal actions (civil and criminal) during disputes.
- Manage litigation by liaising with outside counsel and coordinating documentation with internal stakeholders.
- Ensure regulatory governance by updating the business on legislative changes and ensuring implementation.
- Maintain legal compliance under all applicable laws and internal company standards.
- Support functional automation projects and manage the contract lifecycle for all legal documents.
- Standardize contract templates, implement best practices, and assist in internal and external audits.
- Lead and manage the legal team while maintaining strong relations with business and corporate functions.
Eligibility
- Registered to practice law in India with a minimum of 10+ years of post-qualification experience (PQE).
- Necessary prior knowledge and hands-on experience in property-related legal work.
- Relevant experience as an in-house counsel in the retail industry or a similar sector is preferred.
- Proven experience in handling teams and managing people effectively.
- Deep understanding of compliance issues relevant to internationally listed companies.
- Fluency in reading, writing, and communicating in English.
