Nuvama Group (formerly Edelweiss Wealth Management) is hiring for the position of Chief Manager - Litigation with 5-8 years of experience to join their office in Mumbai.
Role and Responsibilities
- Provide strategic legal counsel across a range of matters, aiming to mitigate legal risks and preempt litigation.
- Draft responses to legal notices, court pleadings, arbitration documents, consent terms, and related legal filings.
- Assist in legal investigations including statement recordings, cross-examinations, and discovery processes.
- Manage and oversee litigation and arbitration matters—defending or pursuing claims on behalf of Nuvama.
- Represent Nuvama in ODR forums, exchange arbitrations, and before investigative and regulatory bodies.
- Develop and present cost-benefit analysis to business teams when advising on legal actions.
- Identify and analyze trends in litigation to proactively address recurring issues.
- Collaborate with internal business units to maintain consistency in legal positions across the group.
- Maintain up-to-date litigation trackers and manage provisioning and contingent liability lists.
- Oversee billing processes, and coordinate with advocates, law firms, and other external legal advisors.
- Draft and review internal legal policies to ensure alignment with current laws and regulations.
- Deliver training sessions to internal stakeholders on legal and compliance matters.
- Stay current with legal and regulatory developments and communicate relevant updates to stakeholders.
Eligibility
- Bachelor’s degree in Law (LLB) from a recognized university; postgraduate qualification in law will be an advantage.
- 5–8 years of relevant experience in litigation, arbitration, and regulatory advisory.
- Strong understanding of legal procedures and experience working with enforcement agencies.
- Excellent drafting, negotiation, and analytical skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple legal matters efficiently.
