Details of the Job/Internship
Sterlite Power is hiring for the position of Chief Manager - Litigation with 8-12 years of experience to join their office in Gurugram.
Role and Responsibilities
- Handle end-to-end litigation, including disputes related to Right of Way (RoW) compensation under the Electricity Act and Telegraph Act, land acquisition, arbitration, constitutional matters, contractual disputes, and criminal cases.
- Represent or assist in proceedings before Writ Courts, District Courts, DRT, Consumer Forums, Claims Tribunals, and other forums.
- Draft, review, and finalize a wide range of legal documents including SLPs, writ petitions, civil suits, criminal complaints, affidavits, claim petitions, replies, and replications.
- Liaise with and brief senior advocates and external legal counsel; coordinate and track case developments.
- Develop and maintain Legal MIS to track and manage litigation metrics and performance.
- Strategize litigation and legal action in alignment with the company’s objectives, including appearing on behalf of the company when necessary.
- Provide legal opinions and updates on evolving judicial interpretations relevant to ongoing or potential litigation.
- Facilitate cost-effective, timely, and pragmatic dispute resolution strategies for the business.
- Draft and review commercial contracts to ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements; maintain and improve standard contract templates.
- Advise the management on statutory compliance, risk assessment, and mitigation strategies.
- Conduct legal risk analysis before entering into strategic and financial agreements.
- Demonstrate in-depth knowledge of electricity, telecommunication, and related regulatory frameworks.
- Maintain a thorough understanding of court procedures and relevant legislation.
Eligibility
- LLB degree from a reputed institution.
- 8–12 years of substantial litigation experience, preferably in the power, infrastructure, construction, or EPC sector.
- Prior experience with a law firm or in-house legal team in a similar sector is highly desirable.
- Strong understanding of the Electricity Act, Telegraph Act, and land acquisition laws.
- Proven ability to manage high-stakes litigation and navigate complex legal landscapes.
