Details of the Job/Internship
PaRa Music is hiring a Chief Manager – Legal with 10 years of experience to join their Mumbai headquarters.
Role and Responsibilities
- Structure and secure master ownership and publishing rights through airtight artist, composer, and lyricist agreements.
- Design and implement scalable contract templates to support high-volume music acquisitions.
- Draft and negotiate complex music licensing deals, including sync, brand integration, and digital distribution agreements.
- Manage platform agreements across YouTube, DSPs, and short-video platforms, including content ID and infringement disputes.
- Develop internal legal SOPs for content acquisition and release to eliminate future ownership disputes.
- Coordinate with external IP counsels and maintain a disciplined, searchable contract repository.
- Provide direct risk advisory to the Founders regarding strategic IP investments and partnerships.
- Oversee the entire copyright registration process and maintain meticulous documentation of the company's IP portfolio.
Eligibility
- LLB is mandatory; an LLM in Intellectual Property Law is preferred.
- 10 years of post-qualification experience (PQE).
- Mandatory: Direct experience in the Music Industry (Labels, Platforms, or specialized firms).
- Expert knowledge of Indian Copyright Law and IP assignment structures.
- Proven track record in drafting artist contracts and music acquisition agreements.
- High ownership mindset with the ability to operate independently in a scaling, private equity-backed environment.
