Details of the Job/Internship

BASF is hiring a Commercial Counsel with a minimum of 10 years of experience to support the BASF Coatings business division, including Chemetall in India. 

Role and Responsibilities

• Provide strategic and day-to-day legal and compliance advice to BASF Coatings and Chemetall business teams in India and APAC.
• Review, revise, and negotiate commercial agreements including sales, procurement, contract manufacturing, collaboration, and confidentiality agreements.
• Serve as legal counsel for global and local M&A transactions and strategic projects.
• Support dispute resolution and litigation with external law firms.
• Work with cross-functional teams to ensure complete and efficient resolution of business matters.
• Implement global policies, assess legal impact, and conduct training for business personnel.
• Develop a strong understanding of the business to identify risks, trends, and strategic legal needs.
• Lead and support compliance-related initiatives and projects.

Eligibility

• LL.B. from a recognised university.
• Minimum 10 years of legal experience; prior in-house experience in an international manufacturing environment preferred.
• Strong proficiency in commercial transactions, contract negotiation, and antitrust laws; knowledge of US/EU competition law is an advantage.
• Experience in M&A, divestments, and strategic projects.
• Excellent communication, collaboration, and stakeholder management skills.
• Fluency in English and Hindi.
