Details of the Job/Internship

Nomura is hiring a Commercial Lawyer with experience of 4+ years to join their office in Mumbai. The role involves supporting Nomura’s business operations across EMEA and providing strategic legal advice on complex commercial matters and transactions during London business hours. The position forms part of the Legal Department, which supports India and global businesses across areas including IT, HR, litigation, real estate, employment law, corporate secretarial, bond issuances, syndicated lending, margin financing, M&A advisory mandates, and commercial agreements.

Role and Responsibilities

• Draft, review, and negotiate complex commercial contracts and agreements.
• Provide legal advice on regulatory matters affecting the business.
• Manage relationships with external counsel where required.
• Support various business units on day-to-day legal matters.
• Advise on compliance with UK and EU regulations.
• Contribute to the development of standardised legal documentation.
• Manage legal risk across commercial operations.

Eligibility

• LLB / CS / LLM qualification.
• Legal qualification in India, UK, or EU jurisdiction or equivalent experience advising on India, UK, or EU legal and regulatory issues.
• Proven experience in the financial services or investment banking sector.
• General experience in drafting and negotiating complex commercial contracts.
• Strong track record of advising on financial services matters.
