Details of the Job/Internship

Indian Institute for Human Settlements is hiring a Consultant – Legal & Regulation with a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience to join their office in Bengaluru.

Role and Responsibilities

• Handle legal and regulatory matters.
• Draft and manage contracts.
• Provide transactional advisory, especially in not-for-profit, procurement, tendering, construction contracts, PPP models, and IPR matters.
• Ensure effective and adequate documentation.
• Draft institutional processes, legal advisory notes, memos, and opinions.
• Support litigation proceedings.
• Conduct legal and regulatory due diligence.
• Contribute to research and academic work on urban law and policy.
• Support IIHS activities across academics, training, practice, operations, and institution-building.
• Travel as required.

Eligibility

• Bachelor’s degree in Law.
• Minimum 8 years of work experience in relevant areas.
• Preferable experience in legal and regulatory matters in the not-for-profit sector.
• Excellent analytical skills and proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Strong written English communication skills.
• Fluency in Hindi/Kannada (written and spoken).
• Experience in legal research, drafting, contract and labour law, taxation law, privacy/data protection, case law, and institutional structures.
• Experience with litigation-related matters.
• Ability to work in interdisciplinary teams and meet strict deadlines.
• Professional experience dealing with government agencies/entities.
• Strong initiative, independence, and leadership skills.

Salary/Stipend
