Details of the Job/Internship

Avalara is hiring a Corporate Counsel to join their office in Pune.

Role and Responsibilities

• Advise and assist the India People & Culture (HR) team with a wide range of day-to-day labour and employment-related matters including grievances, performance and disciplinary management, investigations, and other disputes.
• Draft and review notices, letters, policies, agreements, and other personnel-related documents.
• Review and advise on development and maintenance of employment policies and procedures, primarily those required for compliance with India labour and employment laws.
• Support other members of the legal team, outside counsel, and the People & Culture team to develop and revise policies and practices for managing employee-related matters in India.

Eligibility

• JD, LLB, or equivalent degree.
• Admitted to practice law and in good standing in the jurisdiction in which position is located.
• Substantive employment law experience in India which may include internships or externships.
• Experience in counseling SaaS businesses on labour and employment matters.
• Experience at a US-based company and collaboration with employment counsel in different regions.
• Candidates with an interest in obtaining a deep understanding of Avalara's SaaS business model is a strong plus.
