Details of the Job/Internship
They are looking for an experienced Corporate Legal Counsel to oversee and manage the entire legal spectrum for Sugar.fit, focusing on business-centric legal solutions. The ideal candidate will provide strategic legal guidance, ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations, and support business functions with risk-mitigated decision-making. This role is crucial in handling fundraising, contracts, regulatory compliance, intellectual property matters, corporate governance, and strategic partnerships.
Role and Responsibilities
- Legal Strategy and Risk Management: Provide legal guidance to leadership, ensuring risk-mitigated decision-making across all business verticals.
- Revenue and Expansion Support: Facilitate business growth by structuring and negotiating legal frameworks for vendor relationships, manufacturing, supply chain, logistics, warehousing, clinic operations, technology integrations, and strategic partnerships, ensuring compliance and risk mitigation.
- Contract Lifecycle Management: Oversee end-to-end contract management, including drafting, reviewing, and negotiating agreements across marketing, operations, product, clinical, real estate, and strategic partnerships, ensuring alignment with business objectives.
- Regulatory and Compliance Management: Ensure adherence to healthcare, foreign exchange regulations (FEMA), data privacy, consumer protection laws, FSSAI regulations, and industry standards.
- Telemedicine and Digital Health Compliance: Advise on regulatory frameworks governing telemedicine and digital health services, ensuring compliance with CDSCO, state authorities, and other medical device/clinical guidelines. Structure contractual obligations in agreements, mitigate legal risks in clinical consultations, and engage with regulatory bodies to facilitate necessary approvals and licenses.
- Fundraising and Investments: Support capital-raising efforts, investor relations, and corporate structuring.
- Corporate Governance and Board Affairs: Oversee corporate secretarial matters, facilitate board and investor meetings, and ensure alignment with regulatory requirements.
- Dispute Resolution: Manage litigation, regulatory disputes, consumer complaints, ASCI matters, FSSAI notices, and enforcement actions.
- Intellectual Property Protection: Strengthen the IPR portfolio by securing core brand and product line trademarks.
- Legal MIS: Develop and maintain a legal MIS, providing actionable insights on contract status, compliance metrics, litigation updates, and key legal risks.
Eligibility
- Education: LL.B from a recognized law school; LL.M is a plus.
- Experience and Expertise: 4–7 years in corporate law, preferably in a high-growth startup, health tech, or a top-tier law firm handling corporate, commercial, or regulatory matters. Strong knowledge of commercial laws, corporate governance, data privacy (IT Act), FEMA, and healthcare and consumer protection regulations relevant to health-tech and consumer businesses.
- Proactive and Business-Oriented: Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and drive legal strategies that align with business goals.
