NewtonAI is hiring for the position of Corporate Litigation Lawyer with 5-15 years of experience to join their office in Mumbai.
Role and Responsibilities
Civil Litigation & Case Management
- Manage end-to-end civil litigation including recovery suits, contract disputes, defamation, and injunction matters.
- Draft, review, and finalize pleadings (plaints, WS, rejoinders, affidavits, interim reliefs, execution petitions).
- Prepare evidence, cross-examination briefs, and ensure compliance with procedural deadlines.
- Liaise with external counsel, clients, witnesses, and authorities; maintain detailed litigation trackers.
Legal Research & Drafting
- Conduct in-depth legal research on civil, commercial, and procedural law.
- Draft legal notices, replies, settlement agreements, and pre-litigation correspondence.
- Prepare risk assessments, strategy notes, and case analysis for management.
Court Representation & ADR
- Appear before District Courts, High Courts, NCLT, consumer forums, and quasi-judicial bodies.
- Represent in arbitration, mediation, and conciliation proceedings; handle MSMED Act claims.
- Devise proactive dispute resolution strategies, minimizing litigation risks.
Internal Advisory & Compliance
- Advise management on civil liabilities, litigation exposure, and preventive measures.
- Review contracts, business proposals, and press releases for legal and reputational risks.
- Support internal teams (HR, Finance, Operations) on legal queries and escalations.
- Maintain litigation dashboards, trackers, and compliance records.
Eligibility
- LL.B. from a reputed law school (LL.M. preferred).
- Licensed to practice law in India (Sanad mandatory).
- 5–15 years of litigation experience, especially in civil, recovery, contract, and defamation matters.
- Strong courtroom presence and independent case-handling capability.
- Expertise in legal research platforms (SCC Online, Manupatra, etc.).
- Exceptional drafting and communication skills in English.
- High ethical standards, organizational skills, and attention to detail.
