Details of the Job/Internship
SD Industries, LLC is hiring for the position of Corporate Paralegal (US Laws) with 3-5 years of experience to join them remotely.
Role and Responsibilities
Contract Review & Management:
- Review contracts related to projects and ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
- Draft, review, and negotiate NDAs, non-compete agreements, and other legal contracts in compliance with local and US laws.
Legal Case Follow-Up:
- Follow up on existing legal cases, including those related to the company’s interests, such as accounts receivable and outstanding payments.
- Monitor ongoing litigation and provide timely updates to management.
Accounts Receivable Legal Support:
- Assist in legal follow-up on outstanding receivables, including preparing legal notices and pursuing cases of non-payment or breach of contract.
Legal Correspondence & Responses:
- Draft grievance letters, legal responses to companies, and manage legal notices received.
- Handle union-related legal matters, drafting responses and ensuring compliance with labor laws.
Job Site Legal Matters:
- Support the legal team in handling job site incidents, claims, and follow-ups on disability cases or workers’ compensation claims.
Communication with General Contractors:
- Relay legal notices, project updates, and other essential documentation to general contractors.
- Coordinate with contractors to ensure they manage project schedules and provide updates on potential delays.
- Prepare and communicate change orders in a tactful and legally sound manner, ensuring alignment with project requirements and company policies.
Audit, Tax, Insurance, and Legal Documentation:
- Prepare and handle tax, insurance, and legal documents, ensuring timely submission to relevant authorities.
- Review insurance requirements for job sites to ensure they align with company policies and project needs.
Compliance & Alignment:
- Work closely with different departments to ensure legal and regulatory alignment across projects, ensuring all paperwork and procedures are in compliance with local and national laws.
Claims & Legal Interventions:
- Provide support for legal claims involving the company, and assist in negotiations or settlements when necessary.
Eligibility
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Legal Studies, Paralegal Studies, or a related field.
- 3-5 years of experience as a paralegal, preferably within a construction or related industry.
- Strong knowledge of construction contracts, insurance regulations, and compliance matters.
- Familiarity with labor laws, union regulations, and job site incident protocols.
- Ability to handle sensitive legal matters with discretion and confidentiality.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple cases or projects simultaneously.
