Details of the Job/Internship
Avalara is hiring a Privacy Compliance Manager to lead global data protection efforts and align privacy programs with both domestic and international regulations.
Role and Responsibilities
- Conduct privacy compliance tasks: DPIAs, PIAs, ROPAs, gap analyses.
- Coordinate with Legal, Risk, Security, and Product teams to manage evolving obligations.
- Handle data subject access requests and internal privacy queries.
- Monitor and implement privacy by design in product development.
- Lead privacy training initiatives and champion company-wide awareness.
- Advise on regulatory trends and maintain documentation.
- Investigate and respond to privacy/security incidents.
- Support cross-functional privacy projects.
Eligibility
- Minimum 5+ years of experience managing privacy programs.
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- Strong knowledge of GDPR, CCPA, and global privacy frameworks.
- Experience with tools like BigID, OneTrust, ServiceNow.
- Familiarity with audit processes (e.g., SOC, ISO).
- Certifications preferred: CIPP, CISSP.
