Details of the Job/Internship
Corteva Agriscience is hiring a Corporate Tax Counsel with 8+ years of experience in direct taxation to join their office in Gurugram.
Role and Responsibilities
- Strategically manage and oversee large-scale tax controversies at various judicial stages.
- Supervise the preparation and submission of responses to tax authorities, including appellate bodies and courts.
- Handle proceedings before the Commissioner of Appeals, Transfer Pricing Officers, and Assessing Officers on matters such as agriculture exemptions, transfer pricing, and indirect taxes.
- Ensure tax compliance by managing tax returns, withholding tax, and GST returns in coordination with the Tax Centre Team.
- Collect information from cross-functional teams, reconcile data, and provide required schedules to statutory and tax auditors.
- Provide strategic tax advice to stakeholders and business partners for tax optimization initiatives.
- Stay informed on legal developments and implement necessary changes, advising cross-functional teams on tax processes and procedures.
- Contribute to decision-making as part of the corporate tax management team.
- Support the implementation of global tax policies and standard operating procedures.
- Collaborate with global teams for timely reporting, including FIN 48 and MRL.
Eligibility
- Chartered Accountant/Company Secretary with a minimum of 8+ years of experience in direct taxation.
- An additional law degree is highly preferred but not mandatory.
- Experience in the agriculture industry is advantageous.
- Prior experience with a Big 4 firm or a large law firm is preferred.
- Strong understanding of complex tax provisions and double taxation avoidance agreements.
- Ability to build and maintain effective relationships with all levels of management.
- Quick learner with a proven track record of implementing changes for improved efficiency and accuracy.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
