Details of the Job/Internship

Alphastream is hiring for the position of Data and Legal Analyst to join their office in Bengaluru. 

Role and Responsibilities

1. Private Credit Documentation & Analysis

• Analyze complex private credit agreements, including amendments and inter-creditor arrangements.
• Extract and validate key legal and commercial terms, such as:
• Facility structure & seniority hierarchy
• Pricing and interest mechanics (e.g., PIK, base rates, spreads)
• Financial covenants and compliance ratios
• Collateral packages and security structures
• Payment waterfalls and priority rights
• Governing law and jurisdictional provisions

2. Legal Oversight & Quality Assurance

• Review and verify documentation summaries prepared by junior analysts.
• Provide expert legal interpretation of critical clauses including:
• Representations and warranties
• Events of default
• Negative covenants and loopholes
• Track credit metrics: interest schedules, amortization, prepayment terms, etc.
• Conduct risk reviews to flag anomalies and legal exposure.

3. Stakeholder Collaboration

• Act as a legal subject matter expert for internal teams: Product, Legal, Operations, and Engineering.
• Deliver clear, actionable legal summaries and risk assessments to support business decisions.

4. Process Optimization & Tech Integration

• Drive improvements in legal data extraction workflows.
• Help develop standard templates and scalable data taxonomies.
• Work with product and tech teams to optimize document parsing tools and automation pipelines.

5. Leadership & Mentoring

• Mentor and train junior legal/data analysts.
• Lead high-value documentation reviews and ensure accuracy in deal-critical analyses.

Eligibility

• Law degree or equivalent legal/financial qualification.
• 5+ years of experience in private credit, structured finance, legal analytics, or a related field.
• Deep understanding of credit agreements, term sheets, debt covenant structures, and legal documentation in debt instruments.
• Strong analytical and interpretation skills with attention to detail.
• Proficiency in legal tech tools, document review platforms, and data structuring systems.
• Experience working in cross-functional, fast-paced environments with legal, tech, and investment teams.

Salary/Stipend
