Barclays is hiring an Assistant Vice President – Data Protection Officer with relevant experience to join their office in Pune/Mumbai. 

Role and Responsibilities

• Support the development and maintenance of the Bank’s Data Privacy Framework.
• Design, implement, and monitor data protection policies, processes, and controls.
• Identify, assess, and manage data privacy risks related to personal data processing.
• Coordinate responses to personal data breaches and ensure regulatory reporting.
• Act as a point of contact for Data Protection Authorities and manage regulatory interactions.
• Collaborate with legal, compliance, and risk teams to ensure effective governance.
• Support compliance monitoring, assurance, and reporting activities.
• Conduct training and awareness programmes on data privacy for employees.
• Represent the organisation in data privacy industry groups and forums.
• Advise stakeholders on privacy requirements in outsourcing, technology, and new product processes.

Eligibility

• Strong understanding of Indian and global data protection laws, including IT Act, DPDP Act, GDPR, and PDPA.
• Experience in data privacy or data protection roles within financial services.
• Expertise in risk identification, impact assessments, and privacy controls.
• Experience with data transfer processes, subject access requests, and risk management.
• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
• Knowledge of outsourcing/vendor risk management and technology-related risks is preferred.
• Ability to manage regulatory obligations and compliance frameworks.
