Barclays is hiring a Debt Advisory Lawyer to join the Debt Advisory Legal team, part of the wider Corporate Banking Legal team, to be based in Pune. The role involves advising on corporate and business lending transactions, supporting product innovation and simplification, and proactively identifying legal and regulatory risks while providing clear and well-reasoned legal guidance to stakeholders.
Role and Responsibilities
- Provide legal advice and legal risk management support for corporate and business lending transactions.
- Develop and implement best practice legal strategies for risk management and compliance.
- Advise country coverage teams on regulatory compliance, risk management, project management, and transactional matters.
- Represent the bank in litigation, arbitration, and regulatory investigations related to its operations.
- Draft, review, and manage loan agreements, security documents, and financing documents.
- Conduct legal research and analysis to monitor changes in laws and regulations impacting operations.
- Develop and deliver training programmes on legal and regulatory requirements.
- Proactively identify, communicate, and advise on applicable laws, rules, and regulations, and ensure their integration into policies, standards, and controls.
- Manage operational responsibilities with a focus on quality, timeliness, and continuous improvement.
- Supervise or guide team members where applicable, or act as an individual contributor providing technical expertise and advisory support.
- Partner with internal functions and stakeholders, manage risks, strengthen controls, and ensure compliance with applicable rules, regulations, and codes of conduct.
Eligibility
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Law.
- Experience in corporate lending, including term loans, revolving credit facilities, and overdrafts.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to prioritise, multitask, and manage multiple queries efficiently.
- Experience in assessing documentation templates, processes, systems, and approvals, and providing practical solutions.
- Experience in managing projects within a defined framework with a focus on commercial management and timely legal delivery.
